Steve has assisted with industry committees both for the Alpaca Registry, Inc (ARI) and for AOBA. In 2002, he was elected to the AOBA national board of directors (three year term). He was soon voted by the other AOBA directors to serve as the AOBA Corporate Secretary with liaison positions on the Education Committee and Publishing. He was re-elected in 2005 to serve the board as Secretary with liaison roles to: Education, Publishing, the Alpaca Research Foundation (ARF) and to the Ohio State University's International Camelid Institute (ICI).

Alpacas - Some Things Considered is a superb introduction for the newcomer, but many long time breeders appreciate the new material.

           AUCTION
Choose from an outstanding selection of 34 Hidden Treasures presented by up and coming breeders from all over the western United States. These breeders have worked hard for genetic improvement and now you can reap the rewards of their efforts. Never been to an alpaca auction? Not very comfortable at an auction? Well no worries, we are making every effort to make your experience enjoyable. Brett Kaysen wil be conducting a FREE mini-seminar on Auctions 101 on Saturday prior to the auction. Kyle Schow will be the auctioneer who not only is an experienced alpaca auctioneer but also understands alpaca breeders/owners and would-be alpaca breeders/owners. Steve Hull and Brett Kaysen will be ringmen on the floor assisting and you never know, with that combination, what kind of floor show you may witness. So come bid with us and support the mainstream of the Alpaca Industry.
       Hidden Treasures 
         Silent Auction
Another opportunity to contribute to the success of the alpaca industry is to bid on the fine array of products in the silent auction. The proceeds from this auction will be donated to the Alpaca Research Foundation.  There will also be a very special entry of an original alpaca artwork by an internationally known artist designed especially for this event. Please support this worthy institution.

Brett Kaysen has been an influence in the Alpaca Community on many levels since 2001.  He has traveled coast-to-coast teaching seminars on alpacas consisting of classroom presentations as well as “hands-on” workshops.  Brett also holds an instrumental position with the AOBA Judges Training Program where he teaches Oral Reasons and Conformation.  Brett has a passion for educating, especially in the area of youth education.  He has taught the nations youth about various livestock industries and has spent countless hours volunteering to educate youngsters involved in 4H programs nationwide.
Brett was raised east of Brighton, Colorado where he has always been involved with every aspect of raising livestock.  He earned a Bachelors degree in Animal Science from Colorado State University in 1997.  Brett continued his education at CSU earning a Masters degree in Cooperative Extension and Education in 2003 and most recently, a Ph.D. in Management Systems.  Brett currently holds a faculty position with CSU in the Department of Animal Sciences.

Friday night, Oct 10th, be our guest to meet the breeders' presenting their Hidden Treasures at auction, a sneak preview of the alpacas and loads of fun. The evening will begin with Hors d'ouvres, wine tasting presented by Maryhill Winery and a book signing session with world reown alpaca author Mike Safley. All this will followed by a Q & A session with a panel of industry leaders.
